CRYSTAL CLEAR TIPS

Out of the blue

Today’s expression is used most commonly when something happens unexpectedly or without warning.

  • It was so sunny but out of the blue, a storm came in and everybody had to leave the beach.
  • You won’t believe this. My ex just sent me a message out of the blue.
  • We hadn’t spoken in years and then I received an invitation to their wedding out of the blue.
